Stop Fracking Stickers

"Fracking" is short for "hydraulic fracturing". This well-drilling process pumps water, sand and toxic chemicals a mile or so below ground to release natural gas trapped in rocks. If the process is successful, the deep rocks fracture, releasing gas, which is piped to the surface. If unsuccessful, some of the gas and toxic chemicals move through cracks and fissures below ground, where they sometimes mix with underground water supplies, perhaps even ruining a valuable aquifer. In the Energy Policy Act of 2005, Congress exempted fracking from the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act. These corporations don’t even have to let us know what hazards they are putting into our water! Now over 450,000 fracking wells have been drilled in 31 states. That’s a lot of poisoned water to get rid of. It can't be recycled so they pump it deep into the ground and hope as if by magic will disappear. Maybe for a time, until it follows the pipes and cracks and spreads, and shows up in your tap and bath water. If the fracking industry continues to have its way, tens of thousands more fracking wells will be drilled and billions of gallons of dirty water contaminated with industrial poisons will be pumped underground. How much water has to be poisoned, how many farms have to become sterile, how many people and animals have to become sick or die before the government decides to act? The oil corporations have nothing to lose, and the cost to land and people mean little to them as long as they can sell their product and make money, and our government goes along. Read everything you can on "fracking". Tell your political leaders that you are against fracking, and to overturn the laws that exempt this environmental contamination from the protections of the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act. We need safe, renewable solutions to our energy needs.

This style of Sinclair Gas Station was built in 1935. This building style and layout was used pretty much nationwide by Sinclair at the time. The two pumps out front are Wayne Model 60 units from 1935 and the price was 19.9 cents a gallon complete with checking the tires, oil, water and washing the windows.
