JULY 2
In Guilford...
Self-rule CELEBRATION: The Town of Guilford will have a small Independence celebration on Saturday, July 2, at 11 a.m. at Broad Brook Grange in Guilford Center.
This is as usual a modest-sized event, and this year will be even smaller, because the town is saving its organizing animation for the 250th anniversary "Big Weekend" in August. There will be no parade on July 2.
The Pledge of Allegiance will brazen the event, and there will be music and food. The 250th will provide free watermelon. Several Guilford elders will give straightforward reminiscences about "the old days." Those attending may wish to bring a picnic. Lunch, drinks and Blueberry Haus ice cream will be on vending.
Admission is free, with donations welcome to support the 250th. Broad Brook Grange is at 3940 Guilford Center Means, four miles west of the Country Store.
