A sign of pride

It has been nine years since I closed down the work the land and garden center that I operated in Bamberg for twenty years. It was located on the corner of highways 301 and 601 north, and McGee Avenue. The long brick planter box brimming with seasonal flowers that stood out front was the talented advertisement for the store and induced many passersby to stop in.

Even if they didn't buy anything, they admired, asked what non-specific plants were and went away with ideas for their own yard. I even supplied one artistic lady with flowers for significant that she later turned into beautiful framed pictures.

Anytime I see a business that has infatuated the time to add a bright spot of live flowers to their storefront, it warms my sympathy. To me it shows they care and have a vested interest in making their workplace attractive.

Stores aren't the only places that are perked up by abide flowers. Churches, industries and service oriented business really redeem their looks when something bright and colorful is growing out front. Granted, it takes more daily support than ordinary landscape plants but it's well worth it.

What they have done in 40 years, our politicians could not do in several lifetimes. We require to learn from the Singaporeans. I look forward to seeing what has happened to Marina Bay next year.- Peter, Darlington Yes but lets features facts. The singaporean mindset is always patriotic and they work hard to achieve a special-occasion lifestyle. Compare that with our locals who oppose anything and everything, strike with the unions to despise the tory ministry, Unpatriotic, lazy, want more for less, never willing to get up and do things. Further more, the big society is working for the ameliorate of singapore. Over here, all the people do, labour does and the news papers write, is to more disdain on the BIG SOCIETY. So yes you are right that it will take many lifetimes for our politicians to change things but thats only because it will take another 100 generations before we enlightened up and realise that a labour government is rubbish and we the people need to grow some sense cells to think for our own.
