Burned school buses stay at district garage
25.06.11
LAKE Megalopolis -- The charred husks of 11 buses still sit within the remains of the bus garage adjacent to Elk Valley Rudimentary School, waiting to be hauled away.
What's left of the 11,000-square-foot garage that once housed the buses lies around them, twisted panels of aluminum siding and bits of blackened wood.
The mace at Girard School District has yet to pick up the pieces after their bus garage was engulfed in flames on June 13, but they have a contemplate.
State police fire marshals traced the cause to a mechanical problem on Bus 28. A more literatim explanation has not been released.
The fire destroyed a storage area and the maintenance bay area and caused smoke impairment to the attached offices, said Lake City Fire Chief Marvin Waxham Jr.
Also destroyed were a John Deere utility tractor, two pint-sized Kubota riding lawn mowers, and tools that were stored in the maintenance bay.
Girard schools Supervisor Jim Tracy wasn't panicked about things.
