My son is allergic to grass. I would still like him to be expert to run around in our backyard, and so we are considering replacing our lawn with artificial grass. I appreciate any feedback from anyone who has done this. Or any alternate suggestions..

I have seen this done and it looked marvellous. I would check out artificial turf on the web to get more information. I saw it done on an HDTV program. I think it would be a great picture for your son. You are a very thoughtful parent.
